We are an international platform that promotes and educates about alternative photographic processes and celebrates all experimental darkroom endeavours.

AP was founded by Chiara in 2016, after moving back to Italy from London.

"I once lived in London: I printed in the darkroom everyday. I was surrounded by initiatives & opportunities.. until I wasn’t. I went back home and felt isolated and disconnected from that world.  I could scrap together a darkroom but I missed: conversations, crit groups, darkroom jokes, community, inspiration..

That's why I created Alternative Processes. At the beginning it was just for me, now it's for you and 37 thousand other people."

was born in Florence, Italy and studied Photography at the London College of Communication (UAL). She worked in the arts and in education. From her homeland of Italy to as far as Australia, Chiara has worked collaboratively with numerous cultural associations, art galleries, and museums while encountering talented artists from all corners of the world. She then moved towards content creation and visual communication, working in the media and in marketing. She is the mind and soul behind of Alternative Processes.
